Housing

In 2016-2017, the Oak Ridge Chamber conducted a housing study to identify the need of new housing stock in the city.  As a result, the city has seen substantial growth in new construction housing stock at a moderate price point to suit young families.

Well-built homes on tree-lined streets make great starter homes for any budget. Mid-range houses in planned subdivisions with sidewalks, community pools and limited access provide the perfect family atmosphere. And executive residences are prevalent in a variety of designs, many on or near Oak Ridge’s two top-notch golf courses.

Oak Ridge offers large lots and mini-farms for flower and gardening enthusiasts and animal lovers alike. Available properties and new developments are ideal for custom-built homes, and the gently rolling terrain in the city affords views of the Great Smoky Mountains and Melton Hill Lake from many vantage points.

For maintenance-free living, a wide selection of apartments and condominiums awaits newcomers; while assisted living facilities provide care in a comfortable environment that encourages independence.

Medical Care

Methodist Medical Center

Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge offers patients the highest level of quality care, technology and service that you’d expect to find in a nationally leading hospital. That’s because Methodist is a leading hospital but offers patients the convenience of a hometown medical center that is close to the support of family and friends. A 301-bed regional medical center, Methodist was one of the first hospitals in East Tennessee to offer cutting-edge treatments and technologies that benefit people with life-threatening aneurysms; severely damaged knee, hip and shoulder joints; sudden heart failure; and non-healing wounds.

Methodist is part of the Covenant Health system, the region’s top-performing healthcare network with 10 hospitals, outpatient and specialty services, and Covenant Medical Group, the area’s fastest-growing physician practice division. Headquartered in Knoxville, Covenant Health is a community-owned integrated healthcare delivery system and the area’s largest employer.
