EarthEn, a Cohort 2023 company, has been selected to participate in the Future Energy Storage Studio, a program that will engage start-ups, industry leaders and other innovation partners to advance early-stage energy storage technologies.

ORNL scientists have developed a technology that converts a conventionally unrecyclable mixture of plastic waste into useful chemicals, presenting a new strategy in the toolkit to combat global plastic waste. The technology was invented by ORNL's Tomonori Saito and Md Arifuzzaman, a current Innovation Crossroads fellow, of Re-Du.

At the Innov865 Alliance’s Startup Day pitch competition, Alex Stiles, founder of Vitriform3D and Cohort 2022 fellow, won the $7,000 Judges’ Choice Award.

Teknovation reports that two-thirds of SBIR/STTR Matching Fund recipients are based in East Tennessee. Eleven of them are current participants or alumni of Innovation Crossroads including AddiguruAmerican NanotechnologiesCaptis Aire, DayLyte Batteries, Endeavor CompositesFC Renew, Holocene, Neutroelectric (parent of Becq), Perseus MaterialsSentinel Devices and SkyNano Technologies.

Holocene, a Cohort 2022 participant, has received its first-ever carbon removal purchase agreement. Holocene was one of 12 companies to share in a $7 million buy facilitated by Frontier Climate on behalf of Stripe, Shopify and H&M Group.
